The Industry Yearbook (section writer)

Tia Powell, President of Oz Publishing, recognized that the state of Georgia’s motion picture industry was approaching its 40th anniversary and decided that as a local publisher of motion picture related books she should spearhead the production of a book documenting the local industry’s progress since the early 1970s.

Tia hired writer Nichole Bazeman to compile and write four sections chronicling each decade while assigning her regular staff the task of assembling several yearbook-style “student photo” sections, the result of a brainstorming session that I’d contributed to in 2012.

It was a lot of work, but the end result is a document that will be looked back on by future Georgia film historians as a great resource to the state’s earliest days in the industry.

My contribution to the book was creating the layout and writing the captions for the “Recess” section; a compilation of scores of photos taken on film sets from the 1970s into the 2000s.
